people manufacture happiness. He calls it "synthetic happiness"
so if you have the kids you can't give them back so you justify that they are actually making you happy when in fact they are really making you miserable.
but apparently "synthetic" happiness is as good as the "real" happiness. Ones as good as the other. They both do the trick.
