Sponsored by Compaq and Borland, over 80 delegates attended including executives from IBA Health’s client base in Australia and New Zealand, representatives from the Department of Human Services Victoria, Health Funds, the Health Insurance Commission and other health related personnel outside the client base.

Case studies presented by the Australian Defence Force, Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne and Taranaki Health NZ generated a lot of interest both for their detail and insight into implementation experiences and for their ability to demonstrate very tangible benefits directly attributable to IBA Health’s solutions.
Presentations on IBA Health’s product strategy and the availability of demonstrations of the various product modules was extremely well received, with many availing themselves of the opportunity to become familiar with the latest web based range. Delegates commented on being impressed with the wide range of products available in the IBA Health suite. There was particular interest in IBA’s Clinical and Pharmacy solutions.
The paper by Alan Gibson from the InHealth Group in the United Kingdom on National Health Service (NHS) Health Drivers, investment and reform in the UK health sector including strategy and progress on the delivery of the NHS Plan was a valuable comparison to the Health strategy in Australia and New Zealand.
Keynote speakers Meredith Carter from the Health Issues Centre and Dr Tim Smyth from Phillips Fox, provided very relevant and up to date discussion on privacy, and the role of technology in being able to address issues of safety and the progress and future of the Electronic Health Record in Australia.
Dr Brian Cohen’s detailed paper at the Technical and User Sessions on IBA Health’s new delivery architecture Atlas, was a unique opportunity to gain an understanding of the importance of a truly distributed architecture which provides the flexibility and scalability required to meet the demands of the changing healthcare environment of today. At the same time, this technically innovative solution provides the benefits of being easy to implement and support in a cost effective way.
There has already been a strong positive response from those who attended and the organisations that they represented. Many have expressed a commitment to review IT strategies and to explore opportunities to expand and upgrade with IBA Health’s solutions.
