Of course there is an element of self fulfilling prophesy in T/A and yes it is based on "yesterday's", but isn't that the same with F/A?
The fundamentals change & then the company is re-rated ie by definition true fundamentals are always based on past data .. anything into the future can only be an extrapolation.
It is crazy to ignore or reject either F/A or T/A. They are both just tools.
The secret to their use is in the timeframes.
F/A is essential for "investments" ie most people would only want to put long term money into a business that had an equally long term business model
On the other hand, a short term speculator (or day trader) only needs to know that the market conditions are "right" at that point in time to make the purchase (& then sale) & it is T/A that identifies the timing.
BUT, T/A is also useful to a 'fundamental' purchase in that it can increase "investment" profits by identifying the cheapest entry point based on current market (price) information.
In reality I think that virtually everyone uses T/A data in some way (even if they don't think they do).
eg, few investors who have identified a 'buy' via F/A would not look to see which way the All Ords or XJO are trending before making their entry.
