It is a 'Relevant Interest' as defined in the Corporations Act. More than one party can have a relevant interest in the same shares. Shorters borrow shares from another organisation then return the shares when they have bought the shares back. Depending on the terms of the borrowing contract, both the lender and Borrower will have a Relevant Interest in the same shares.
