Great point made.for investment grade bond, My understanding is CGF trying as much as possible matching the duration between their investment and annuity liabilities, holding it to maturity to minimize any price difference.
I believe we can see the up and down in investment earning (on paper profit/loss) shows on report as “investment experience”.
of course the key is any upturn in default rate will hit with actual financially loss.
shorter can short the stock for many reasons, but it’s good that we keep questioning the investment case for CGF, until it change from what we first believe.
