I get where you are coming from. But acquiring the shares below their "intrinsic Value" is a pretty big caveat.
I also agree with Indian's line of thinking
If it can be achieved, Buy backs are great. However, I prefer dividends over buybacks because if the shares are at a great price I can just use the dividends to buy the shares for myself.
If there are franking credits to be used, IMO the intrinsic value of the buyback has to outweigh the value of franking also.
This is obviously very subjective due to all the various types of investing everyone pursues, but that is my 2 cents
