Yes. Hard to understand.The granting of a patent could be compared with the vesting of a contingent asset.
The granting of a patent is public information published by US Patent Office and competitors would certainly be keeping a watch on BRN patents, so keeping a lid on it after the horse has bolted would not make much sense (even if it makes a tasty mixture of metaphors).
