There are lots of dreams and theories about "new" storage batteries but no one has been able to get them out of the laboratory
They have come up with one invention/process which will give EVs a little more life and that is - all storage batteries are composed of numerous separate cells
Like anything manufactured some of them fail, with the lead acid battery in your car it has 6 cells and the battery is ok until one cell deteriorates, then the whole thing is thrown out, although 5 cells are still perfect.
The new idea is that with electronics getting better all the time they can now monitor each individual cell and boost any one of the 7000 cells (Tesla battery pack) which is losing performance, to keep them all equal for a longer time
