I'd take a wild guess that you're an elderly person who doesn't seem to have any idea about drug use bar stupid c..p in papers and TV.People don't jump from weed to pills because weed is some gateway drug that innocent kids got hooked on by boogey man.
You start with weed because you can't buy alcohol, have a bbq and few beers with mates in your old man's backyard.
So you get weed!
A lot cheaper, easy to get. Drop couple of eye drops, some parfume and your mum can't smell a thing on you.
And you get great laughs and fun with mates for less than a price of 6pack.
Then you start going out clubbing and partying:
You can either spend $200 of your miserable pay on drinks, cabs, cover charges etc on Friday night and wonder how you gonna pay rent on Monday.
Or pop a pill for $20, buy couple of drinks and have a blast for $50.
Later on as you earn more money you move on to expensive stuff like drinking, cocaine, hotel rooms and so on.
After you're done all that while getting uni degree, good job and done with partying:
You get married and graduate to drinking beer and having bbq.
Along the way some fall of the waggon and end up junkies or alcoholics or both. But most sit around bbq and talk how they are worried about their kids trying drugs.
