Incorrect Pear, you have reduced shares on issue therefore you have an increased equity stake for each remaining shareholder. I would certainly not call that nothing.

Your own the net assets of the company. ie net assets per share. You have reduced your net assets and the number of shares, therefore, on a share basis you have done nothing.
Good investment if the directors don't know what to do with the cash.
