on brexit itself my current thinking comes down to philosophy really -
I agree that most Brits didn't realise the complications of leaving-but, they should have-it's that simple
and, I believe that if there were another vote (public - referendum) - I would suggest that the 'stay' would probably win-
but, the issue for me is that they have already voted and voted to leave
it's the price of listening to idiots and believing what they say
same same - the yanks are stuck with Trump -
I feel different for us here between those two quite separate issues - because I don't think Brexit effects us directly a great deal (potentially of course it might)- whereas with Trump - we are directly effected no matter what.
So - if we agreed to have another referendum because people didn't realise what would happen - then, why not have another President of the US election - because people didn't realise the chaos that would be unleashed?
For my money - - I think Trump should stay in place -------- ditto - I think Britain should exit
That doesn't mean that they cannot rejoin later - ditto -at the next election - dump Trump
but, surely what or whom has been voted for should stand- until reelection or something very different comes along - (or in the case of criminality - clearly there should be a rethink)
however, mere complexity of Britain leaving isn't enough - a blind man riding a black duck saw that it was going to be very messy and expensive
also - why reward many for not voting???? - Oh, I didn't want Britain to exit, but, I didn't get out of bed and go and vote ---------------------------- so?????? piss off and wear the problem- it's called consequences of your inaction.
With all this political turmoil atm - US, Britain and even in Australia -I keep thinking about the system on the Isle of Man (The High Court of Tynwald)
I think it's the one I am thinking of - where they decide things and make laws - then, after 12 months -they go back and see how those laws are working - they dump or change what's not and leave alone what is -
that sounds like a very smart idea to me - and, it's the oldest functioning parliament in the world (continuous) -
now, that might not work for something like Brexit -but, something along those lines might- indeed, it might have stopped Britain being in this position in the first place
