I was born in 1939 and and asa lad almost all was true.
We often had underground mutton and two toothhoggett on occasion.
Chicken was unknown but wehad chooks for eggs and when they stopped laying we ate them - they wereusually boilers.
As a treat on Sunday my dadsent me down to the shop to buy a slice of icecream that was wrapped on a fewpages of newspaper.
In my teens spaggettibolonaise suddenly was the in thing at restaurants and coffee shops.
Althoughwe had many New Australians in my area they did not open cafes etc for a fewyears later.
