History has some interesting twists and turns
Imagine if the Maori had missed NZ in their Western explorations - and hit Australia instead - would the Aboriginal ended up like the NZ Moriori?
Would we all be talking Dutch if Van Dieman or Dirk Hartog been taken more seriously?
or had La Perouse had a faster ship than Capt Phillip (he arrived in Botany Bay about a week later than the British fleet)
So if I was Aboriginal - I would have to ask myself - would I'd rather be speaking English, Dutch or French (not to mention Portughese or Spanish) right now.
Keeping in mind that if they weren't speaking English - they would definitely have picked up a few Japanese words back in the 40s
