What people don't understand about the UK is that they don't have a common idea of what their country is. (Ask someone from the UK the name of their country and the answer might be the UK, Britain, Great Britain, England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or even - strangely enough - Ireland.) And they have dwelt in their own fantasy world of how their government works, yet the truth is it's just a series of compromises and precedents stuck together by the Bandaids of tradition and royal pomp.

By seceding from Europe it opens up a discussion on UK sovereignty, what the country is and how governments rule. By doing that you open up a Pandora's Box of past injustices and grievances. No one will agree on change. At all. Ever. As we just saw in the House of Commons.

With Brexit, the resilient UK economy may take a big hit for 5-10 years, but will probably recover. I'm not sure whether its parliamentary system will ever recover.

The faith in Parliament would likely never recover if Brexit is thwarted and that would be a much bigger crisis. The public have spoken, their representatives should deliver.

A brief economic hit for six months or so whilst new trade processes bed in is nothing compared to the betrayal of the people.

Get ‘er done.
