This came up at a funeral recently when the priest spoke about the need to believe in Jesus/God to go to heaven so when I asked my family their interpretation and got completely different answers from everyone on what happens if you don't.
So can someone please tell me what the OFFICIAL church/bible answer is to this question and its variant.
If you do not believe in Jesus/God - what happens to you when you die ?
What about if you are a really good person free of sin but still do not believe ?
I remember asking this question as a child and the answer I got then was that if you do not believe you go to hell. Now that answer may be wrong but it actually put me off all religion as my immediate thought was that if I was a good person and god forsake me because I doubted him then he was no god I wanted to hang with in the first place.
