Have had some correspondence with Ferguson's office. They had plenty to say about the coal projects - some of which I think are worth funding (but definitely not CTL). As to geothermal they pointed me to the website of the working group that the previous government set up and a meeting supposedly to happen mid-April, but still TBA.

There's no interest there that I can detect - and I do see it as a project that should fall under resources and energy and definitely not on the periphrey. As for the environment ministers - Ive written to both and yet to receive a response, several months on.

The infrastructure side of this project really needs a champion in government. Can't see any candidates in the ALP but I think Turnbull would be up to it - if for no other reason than he has Tim Flannery in his ear. As someone who was very much in favour of a change of government at the last election I'm feeling a bit disillusioned.

That aside, the project will stand on its merits commercially anyway. I'm very keen to see how GDY plan to take it from being a technical achievement to a profitable enterprise.
