Because they are not proportional to the actual interest PNI has in these funds, and do not allow any reasonable comparison of one period to the next without delving into every single fund's performance. Managements job is to provide meaningful information to shareholders. We should not have to do half an hours work to find out how they went (if that is even possible). It should be provided. Even then we are probably in the dark as to each funds likely contribution to earnings.
They shouldn't provide such FUM numbers at all IMO. That kind of announcement is misleading in every detail except the earnings numbers IMO.
