The auction depends upon bids / sells.

There are bids at 1.4 and sells at 1.3.

If, in the EOD auction the bids at 1.4 outweigh the sellers at 1.3 the sellers win by getting their sells to the front of the queue and getting a pip higher, so in this case the sellers win and dictate as they have forced the buyers higher.

Now play out the reverse which is what happened in the end of day auction and you will see that the sellers lost control as the buyers dropped their bid total below the sellers dictating to the sellers to drop them at 1 pip less, hence the buyers had control in the closing auction!
