Here's my theory. Ann next week will be national roll out of Intelliheart testing to Sigma pharmacies. Customers will be offered "free" or discounted membership of IMI/Sigma associated gymnasiums (eg BH and the other chains they've been working on) when they purchase the test. Customers with adverse findings will be "encouraged" to be followed up by medical clinics that are customers of IMI and further encouraged to be managed using IntelliPlan - the IMI cardiac careplan software - with referral on to IMI associated cardiologists if required. There will be multiple "partnerships" and "kick-backs" between complimentary service providers. The retail fee recouped through Sigma will be dispersed according to the model that all parties have "beaverishly" been working away at over the last 12 months. Re-testing fees will be distributed back in part to the originating referral source (eg. the Pharmacy) so there is an incentive for the retail outlets to do as many tests as possible, because if it is the only test they ever get to do, they'll still get an "originators royalty" - a bit like the new royalty laws proposed for artists on re-sale of their work.
