I'm sorry but i don't see that it's that difficult for the vast majority of people to get a mortgage if they have a paid salaried job & they are applying for a loan that they can actually afford with a 20%+ deposit. If you fit that profile then you can get one from your current banker.
The biggest problem is that people who shouldn't be buying to a property are trying to, because their finances don't support that.
Yes getting a better deal requires some work but people are inherently lazy, demonstrated by how few people change banks even though they don't like their current banker.
And yes it gets more complicated if you are self employed but people have been conned into believing they need a broker when in all but extreme cases they don't.
