You can also download a spreadsheet from the RBA site which includes the FX rates for the US$ and a number of other currencies (as well).

The spreadsheets are broken into a number of series, going from 1983 to 2004, or as a single 2.7 meg download. The most recent part series covers 1999 to 2004 and is about 813K.
