With shares its the same as property... there always has to be a winner and a loser.
i think of the CSL shares that I bought, and the GC property I bought back in 2002 and wonder if the sellers had any regret ?
i agree with you about Karl’s investment process.... scale in And then scale out. And think it’s a reasonable process... of course not necessarily so when stock move sharply downwards for some reason.
i am however a bit concerned looking at his average performance over the last 3 years !
I am also a little concerned about the fund if Labour gets in and goes thru with their franking Cr scheme, especially since Karl boasts that there are significant numbers of SMSFs in CDM.
i guess too it depends on your reason and timeframe for investing. I
don’t need to draw down on my SMSF to live on... but I do need to draw it down to comply with the regulations. Hence, I (at this stage and in the shorter term) am more interested in the dividends or cash flow (that can fund other inv3stments) rather than the capital gain and therefore can take a longer term view. If I have to sell CDM to raise the funds for drawdown, I can merely then buy the same share in my own name and take advantage of thefranking credits and play the waiting game. Don’t be sorry that some people have been “hurt” !, that’s all part of the game, and besides we are only borrowing money while we are alive anyway... in the long term, there are no pockets in the wooden overcoat !
