For every bit of "data" talking up extreme weather events now that didn't use to happen, I can find opposing data. Which data is right?
Want to know why it might feel like we have more extreme weather events now? Because the world is awash with social media and instantaneous access to pictures of what's happening on the other side of the world. We are more acutely aware of it. Having said that, it does NOT feel to me like we're having more extreme weather events. Growing up, I saw floods, droughts, ridiculous cold snaps, bushfires, heatwaves - just like we see today. It's called "climate" or "weather".
@nashezz @Stockcount, it really is this simple - why has literally EVERY doomsday prediction never come true? This is a fact you simply cannot deny. It is indisputable. Only the future can prove or disprove the past or present. Right now, we are in the present. The future awaits - and today's present will be the same as every single past we've ever bloody had.
The Industrial Revolution began 1760. The population then was 777,000,000. The population today is precisely 10 times that amount. So, with 10 times the population, relying on an increasingly exponential amount of coal, you're suggesting it's only the past few decades that CO2 has decided to make a difference? Obviously not in the 70s because they were predicting Ice Ages back then!
Even taking your argument of CO2ppm trapping heat and warming the globe... nature finds a way, always. It does what it does and I say again.... any notion that we, pissant little humans, can in any way alter what the sun does to this planet is utterly egocentric.
