There are enough power brokers with sick kids to fast track certain research directives nowadays (private funding, philanthropy). That will make a difference. But also we're entering a socialist phase globally - I don't know why, and I don't know how it's going to turn out, and I don't know if it's a good thing....but the traditional owners of power (such as big Pharma) are losing power like nobodies business.
