the Ashford coal mine is surrounded by freehold and leased grazing land on all sides. It’s approximately. 20km north of Ashford which is a sleepy little village, no doubt they’d appreciate the extra jobs and revenue for the town but they’d be against the extra trucks going through town. It’s a different story when you’re digging the coal to feed into an adjacent power station vs digging it up and transporting it 100s of kilometres away.
