Like anything you will always have a niche who will build there own high end rigs, it's part of the culture. You would be surprised how much shadow has bridge the input lag and latency issues down to sub 10ms by using their service.
But the options eventually are buy little jimmy a $1000 plus piece of hardware which he then needs to also fork out $50+ for each game or subscribe to a platform for $10 or $20 a month which will also provide you a library of games which you then can run off probably their existing PC or laptop.
what's do you think a parent is more likely to gravitate towards..
