Its to know someone is paying attention to details.

I am not too exactly sure about the pellet process but lets have an educated guess.

When ore is ground, it must be fine enough for flotation to work. Surfactant will not pick up heavy particles. So when particles are fine, they must be pelletised for transportation and smelting process. Heat transfer coefficient is higher in pellet form than dust and fine particles.

I can dig out some undergraduate literature, but that will take me ages, so by accepting my guess, you save me time.
