Mining sector: Mali has had its best economic performance in the last 20 years

The revelation was made by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. This department reiterates its determination to support the mining sector to revitalize the national mining activity. This is part of the desire to develop an attractive mining code for the investor.
The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum relies on professionals in the sector to further hoist and maintain the Malian mining sector as the leading sector of the national economy. In this area, Mali has had its best economic performance in the last 20 years. It was stated: "With an average of 35% of budget revenue, mining now accounts for more than 70% of Mali's holdings in absolute terms and more than 8% of GDP".
In spite of these performances, reforms must be carried out. To do this, the Department of Mines and Petroleum plans to develop an attractive mining code for the investor while allowing the pursuit by the state and communities of development objectives. Which are defined in the program of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and in the Prime Minister's policy statement.
Mining activity is in essence a very long-term endeavor, requiring heavy investment and legislation tailored to the needs of the sector's stakeholders.
"The new texts governing the Mali Chamber of Mines have been adopted by the government. Throughout this review, we have tried to take into account and integrate the opinions and suggestions of the actors you are. We wanted to have texts adapted to our realities certainly, but also texts integrating the regional and sub regional data of the African mining sector, "says the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. Before reiterating its determination to support the mining sector to revitalize the national mining activity.
In July 2019, Mali will host in Bamako, the meeting of the Executive Council and that of the General Assembly of the Federation of Chambers of Mines of ECOWAS (EFEDCOM).
