Mission Biofuels expects EBITDA around $9m for FY08
Tuesday, May 06, 2008; Based on current performance Mission Biofuels (ASX:MBT) expects to achieve an EBITDA of around $9 million for the financial year ending 30th June 2008.

During the commissioning phase of the jatropha plant in Malaysia approximately 3,500 tonnes of biodiesel was produced and of this approximately 2,500 tonnes has been sold.

Additionally, the plant produced almost 350 tonnes of crude glycerine, all of which has been converted and sold as pharmaceutical grade purified glycerine.

The current high feedstock prices make it unviable to produce biodiesel.

Accordingly, the company has made a decision that it will only produce biodiesel if it were able to do so profitably.

The company has been investigating several opportunities to secure moderate quantities of feedstock at reasonable prices which will allow it to produce and sell biodiesel on a jobbing basis.

For the month of May 2008, the company will profitably produce and sell approximately 4,000 tonnes of Biodiesel.

Meanwhile, glycerine production is being ramped up to full capacity of 900 tonnes from May 2008 onwards.

Mission has secured adequate supplies of crude glycerine to support this interim strategy.
