March Tails_Blooms_N_Anything, page-59

Big e - can commiserate:  had put off some repair jobs before I went on my trip - now the chickens have come home to roost.
Have strange HW system, which doesn't always turn on 'hot' - it's one of those small electric things with a small storage tank - and have at times turned water on in bath tub, only to find it full of cold water - didn't want to waste, so a cold water dip it was brrr.
Will try and replace with a German make (Stiebel)

Vacuum cleaner was ill-treated by otherwise wonderful eldest daughter, so ordered a new one 10 days ago -on-line from Harvey Norman  (thinking it would be quick) - at first, with much fanfare and emails the bags arrived then - nothing - so I rang - turned out because of 'sale' H.N. had to 'source' them from Port Hedland (W.A.) and yes it was on its way.  Yesterday, as I was doing a last-minute run to the shops for my afternoon 'tea' party - I saw a truck drive into next-door's drive, but thought no more about it -  was in a hurry, you see.  
Turns out to have been H.N. delivery van - this morning: more checking on-line, filling in a form on-line and a form in my post-box - just half an hour ago (2 pm here) a handsome brown boy delivered the box. Amazing how much delivery staff is from overseas. Also amazing how 'expensive' on the environment my innocent on-line order had become - shall think before ordering anything next time.

Globes need replacing, but need to go to specialty shops as different types of LEDs etc. etc.  - last time only found them on-line - but that is a shifting landscape.

AND for my guests I tried to put on some CDs in my cheap replacement purchase (had Bang & Olufsen before, died) and lo and behold the CD player didn't work - tried again this morning - dead.
Lucky kept an old MP3 player, was going to gift to a sick man, didn't, so more cables, shifting of furniture awaiting . . .

I feel like a drink now, but no-no-no-no-no !

Ah yes, first act when arriving from overseas, wanted to take a bath - ran water - put my head down for just a little while - 1/4hour later water was in the hallway - hallway carpeted, water stains now - but  needs replacing, anyway - remembered telling makeshift plumber not to worry about a drain - hmmm now I know why people have drains in bathrooms.

All of life's tribulations, but we are alive and well and have friends, both on-line and in 'real' life and that's what matters.
