It does not convert potential energy into electrical energy without at least 125% energy prior spent.

Keep on contradicting yourself. You say that Snowy 2.0 contributes nothing and then in the very next line you say it does.
Snowy 2.0 stores energy that would otherwise be lost. Stores cheap zero emission energy to boot.
Unlike now when energy has to be used as it is generated. That means that load is tied to the generation system with no flexibility. That means that large generators have to be kept online when they are not needed. That means we need a fleet of peaking power units spread throughout the grid. That means we see peaking prices go through the roof.
It also means that when load exceeds generation, we're stuffed.
Storages such as Snowy 2.0 protect us against peaks and plant breakdown. Baseload power station sized response in 30 seconds.
So, rather than excess renewable energy losses of 100%, Snowy 2.0 means that 80% of that power will be available for when we need it.
