1.5 years does appear to be a long lead time, but when you think about how long it has taken the two demo plants, there was always going to be at least 12 months needed for the CDP from conception to construction, especially given the CDP is 10-100 times bigger.
But if the offtake partner is decent (e.g. a large Japanese partner) will you care too much about a few months here or there?
And does anyone think they are spending time and money on planning a 2,500tpa plant just for the fun of it? There is a 99% chance the demo partners will also be partners for the next plant, but I believe there is likely to be a 3-4 year lead time for such a plant.
A long time sure. But they are eyeing off an industry which is not going to take off for another 3 years in any event.
