'never in australian corporate history has a company lost to a class action....'

Are you serious? Where shall we start? GIO in 2003 for $112mill. Aristocrat recently reputed to be $200mill (settled out of court). In the last 2 or so years the incidence of class actions has risen dramatically. This is only happening because of landmark cases which have turned in favour of claimants. This is real. Possible that CNP may win, also possible that there will be some sort of settlement. There is no doubt that CNP misled their shareholders, which is the crux of the claim. Even if successfully defended, these 2 claims are going to cost CNP alot in time and money, time and money they can probably ill afford at this stage.

For the benefit of solarx, just an opinion. Not gospel, time will tell.
