I understand there's an election and this is an issue that will be used to scare older people to vote LNP, which most were probably going to anyway.
The truth is, once the policy is before parliament, every reputable financial planner will be able to show how to reorganise finances to negate any income loss. There'll also be free guides on investment and media sites. I'm not dismissing the issue outright, and know the issue might be genuinely distressing for some worried about their finances, but the reality is it's manageable.
If you're trying to get votes for LNP, once you're sure Aunt Bernice is going to vote Liberal you should stop scaring the bejesus out of her. Let her know (with a bit of financial restructuring) she's going to be ok even if Shorten does get in.
