Human history is full of violence. If we didn't have racial and religious intermingling, which is impossible given the global history of conquest and subjugation the scale of potential violence would be massively more catastrophic. Rather than paranoid individuals like this guy killing with low calibre weapons, you'd have paranoid states fearing nominally hostile neighours. Rather than hiding behind manageable differences as reasons to separate ourselves we must continue in the direction of the last half century and integrate. This particular loser killed 49 people to no avail. His only achievement will be further rejection of the bigotry that motivated him. The billions who understand that humanity is safest when we accept that different races and religions can and will coexist remain in charge.
