@holymoly The link will develop over time. In trying to visualize it, I find it useful to think of the capabilities behind each product offering, and then visualizing whether they can be packaged with other capabilities to form a 'product' or service offering to a particular market segment. So, in the case of Ohm, the capability is in capturing sensor data and presenting that in some type of insightful way for its users. Packaged and priced as Ohm for the commercial sector. But in due time, I can see a simple residential or soho focused, data gathering and visualization app (like the Fitbit app or as an extension to the LiFX app), that presents information on whatever usage those sensors were collecting. Not in any major way that cannibalized the Ohm commercial market, but in a light touch consistent with (say) a $5-$10 per month service. This type of product would require a 'base unit' in the style of Ohm but perhaps packaged differently and to different standards. It may or may not also provide some 'hub' features to accommodate a future explosion of IoT devices and gadgets in the home. Future proofing or Value adding? Just speculating of course. And the value of that data (allowing for privacy concerns) could generate significant additional revenue opportunities via referrals, customer loyalty programs, or straight out data selling.
Likewise, I can imagine Ohm seeking to continually upgrade its functionality to prevent cannibalization risks with its data analytics. with sourcing and presenting relevant bench-marking; with incorporating more automated control features not just for reducing consumption and buying offsets - but in triggering consequential automated actions designed to improve safety or comfort of employees and/or customers; or in integrating with their supply chain etc.
Not saying that this is the way that they should or will develop. But it does bring to life some plausible possibilities that underline the potential. I guess the point I'm making is that as an investor who is hoping for ST survival so that we can have some LT thriving, I find it useful to develop an assessment framework that views these products within a road-map. And for that road map to be driven by inherent capabilities (and of course market needs). And then to take that into account as one of the many factors in continually evaluating my investment. Which is not in Ohm. Or in LifX. But in Buddy Platform or should I say...Buddy Technologies.
