SPI Futures traded in a 33 point range last night, with a high of 6212, low of 6179 and a close this morning of 6211, up 20 points on high volume (due to rollovers) of 32,971 contracts. Based on that range, my pivot point and R and S levels for today are below. June expiration closed at 6199 up 18 points on high volume (due to rollovers) of 25,514 contracts. The opening gap from yesterday filled last night, leaving gaps up at 6214 which should fill today and 6271 and 6785 from a previous day - not too sure about them. Gaps below from last night at 6195, 6187, 6181 and 6173. DOW up .25 pct, SNP up .37 pct and Canada (resource driven) up .69 pct. VIX also up 1.71 pct to 13.10, bucking the inverse correlation. Humm.
Today in 2001, The Bank of Japan issued a monetary policy known as quantitative easing, which stimulated the Japanese economy after the burst of the dot-com bubble. Now they have negative interest rates, and don't feel very stimulated. However, also on this day in 1994, the worlds largest omelette (1,383sq ft) was made with 160,000 eggs in Yokohama, Japan. Humm. You have to ask yourself why. Maybe they meant Quantitative Egging. Having worked there for nine years, I can say that nothing would surprise me. Have a nice day.
