So …. the reality that exists here at present ….
The SP is at its highest since August 2018. It is here after a period of renewal and consolidation, following the remedial works undertaken by (and of) the board.
In that time, the last vestiges of the board which endorsed the philosophy of fabrication woven by Nick Clarke has been renewed …. Dr Brookins (the technical expert) has been appointed CEO …. Sue Thomas (a management coach and renowned compliance expert) has been brought in to set direction and mould the company for future growth.
Dr Brookins has added credibility to the Alexium approach, his contribution being technical expertise, honesty and the enthusiasm as the developer of the PCM product line.
Ms Thomas has built a management team and philosophy at Alexium which provides a basis upon which the company can develop into that which it promised to be in the past, but could not achieve due to the lack of focus on the things that really were important. She instigated a clear succession philosophy with the appointment of Ms Garnon, positioning a person with the skill set required to carry the company forward.
There has never been any doubt that the products have been at the premium level, the fire retardant comes from a long development period from the USAF; there has never been any doubt as to the efficacy of Alexiflam. The work by Dr Brookins over the years has improved it far beyond the original concept … and expanded the product line to suit a huge variety of applications.
The PCM product is of exceptional quality, the development of the efficiency measurement system to provide a reasonable comparison to competitors' products gives an insight into the confidence in that product line.
So we now find ourselves with a product line which is comparable or better than anything else in the world, recognition from the US military and an agreement with a long term reputable supplier to them to develop the next wave of uniforms to be provided. From this we gain not only credibility with military procurement organisations around the world … but also to the wider market of protective clothing for fire, police and ambulance services as well as commercial markets for workwear.
We find ourselves in this position because of the work done by Bob Brookins and Sue Thomas. I am sure there are others within Alexium who have contributed to the fundamentals of the company … but to the previous board I can only attribute lost time and wasted opportunity.
Personally I still find it surprising that people and morality have such an effect on a company's fortunes. A world beating product will only get you so far (and perhaps nowhere at all) unless you have the people and the philosophy to provide it. I think that Alexium now has that.
So … finally, we may all have the opportunity to benefit from that in which we have so long believed. We knew we had the products, now we have the structure and philosophy to benefit from those products.
Thank you Bob, Sue … and Parsifal.
