National minimum wage is now $18.93. Childcare workers in 2018 were on $21.29 per hour. If labour gets in the unions want a 6% increase this year and 5.5% next year. Mayfield's labour cost was close to $18M in CY 18. I realise it's the same for all employers with low paid workers but I think Shorten and the unions will be very supportive of the childcare workers push for increased pay. Just something to be aware of as an 11.5% increase over two years would amount to over $2M in increased wage costs.
