Increased cost of sales without a comparable increase in revenue (ie. MFD attempt to pass on to customers in daily fees who rather than accept the increase, withdraw children from centres) will only result in lower employment in the industry. The ALP's entire approach to wage regulation is backward and based on a misunderstanding of business. Businesses exist to make a profit, not to employ people. Get in the way of the former and you won't have the latter.
In saying that, it will be worthwhile keeping track of what Ivanovich has pointed out, but I would foresee a public outcry laying waste to such a proposal.
