The electricity demand will be substantially increased when everyone is charging evs. No point in having everyone with evs if there is not enough electricity to charge them. Coal fired plants will be required for quite some time yet. The capacity to provide this increased amount of electricity from wind, solar and batteries is simply not available. Also, if it costs as much to charge you ev as it does to put petrol in you current model, then you have gained nothing and you will slow the uptake.
