I agree Ant but isnt this reflecting the challenge ANZ have as a bank and its broader market challenge?

I can imagine Mike Smith thinks about how shake the OPES issue off ANZs tail everyday. I bet he wishes he could talk about other opportunities and probably cant get through a press discussion without an Opes question. OPES folks interjecting on broader ANZ topics is probably just mirroring what happening to ANZ in the market generally rather than a strictly HC phenomena

Its the nature of this kind of issue that overshadows everything ANZ does in the market and this is simply being reflected on HC

Like the Westpac Letters dogged Westpac, Opes is going to dog ANZ until they wake up and realize that their banks overall standing is at risk not just 600m

Personally I dont think it is priced in, if ANZ gets rolled as appears likely it reflects on the decision making capability of the management of the bank

Lending 95M in the circumstances reflected in todays story, so they could dislodge other parties is a pretty damning indictment on the wisdom of management

as I suggested very early in this saga ANZs actions are symptomatic of managements overall inexperience, poor risk procedures and processes

now they are cornered by their own actions

I also think folks should layoff the conspiracy theories around HC and Ocker, on balance I think the folks at HC have enabled a very useful forum on the whole saga

Where else would folks have discussed this stuff ??

I cant imagine ANZ advertising on HC anytime soon LOL
