I too downloaded and attempted to understand the certainID patent around 2015 what I first bought some KKL at exactly the same price it is now (pre consolidation). It was tough reading, but my understanding is that it's a form of public/private key encryption, like what underpins secure internet communications now, but in this case the users biometric data forms the private key thus doesn't need to be revealed to anyone.
What I don't know is what competing methods there are out there which may also solve this problem.
