Not unheard off. I remember from last year when some NZ business paper ( forgot the name ) was saying that A2M( disclosure: I hold them ) price is too high, it cannot grow anymore, China regulation, etc, etc ... very bearish, SP must come down.

Turns out that the writer of that piece is simply saying the words ( e.g. a mouth-piece ) of a hedge fund which wanted to short A2M, but it was not fully disclosed in the paper. LTH of A2M complained to the editors for this lack of disclosure ( go ask the A2M forum in HC ).
