They need our tech because they are progressively taking themselves out of the 'stone-age' (another metaphor!) and into the modern world. All the while adhering to the 'politically correct' culture of looking after the environment. With the amount of work that needs to be done, renewables just aren't going to cut it. India need to stick with the Paris agreement, as well as doing what needs to be done for their country.
Sanitation worked very well for the Greeks, Macedonians and Romans
The French rule over Europe was incited by the power of the people- the same people who lacked sanitation and sewage. Maybe the sh#t hit the fan?
In relation to India not being interested in us, why wouldn't they tell management? And, if they had and management hadn't told us, then this would become a different matter entirely!
Also, if India wasn't interested, why would they put us in the R&D section?
The reason why there's a lack of clarity/transparency is management's announcements is because it's a delicate situation. 'Polite persistence' is required, as opposed to the 'slam, bam, thank you ma'ma' approach suggested by other posters.
And speaking of other posters, some will have you believe that they don't need our tech. Whether they are acting our of fear or malice, all I ask is that you review the points above.
If I could leave you with one question, it would be how else could they achieve all they need to achieve without our tech?
