I've noticed it happens on a lot of stocks. Small orders often selling into themselves. With large volume stocks they will stack the sell side as well. Then stack the buy side to push the price up.
I'm sure the instos do it with blue chips on a larger scale. If they have enough money and stock they can always move the market their way.
This is why technical analysis can work because you can scan for these oversold and overbought entry and exit points and go with them.
