I think a lot of people are moving to low cost ETFs. They are available for as low as 0.2% fee with high liquidity and good performance over the boom. Additionally, I have read somewhere (sorry don't remember where) that quality LIC's outperform the market in bull markets, but under perform in a bear market. Given where we are in the market cycle this is probably adding to the pain.
