Additionally, Dr. Holton reviews the results from hisrecently-published paper, “Two-Stage Prosthetic Prepectoral BreastReconstruction: A Comparison of Tissue Expansion with Carbon Dioxide andSaline”
A few key points ofthe paper include:
- Discussion of adverse events with saline expanders compared to AeroForm (45.9% vs. 32.4%, respectively)
- Post-operative wound infection was significantly more common in the saline group as compared with AeroForm (5.4% vs. 0%)
- Full-thickness skin necrosis occurred at a significantly higher rate in the saline cohort as compared with AeroForm (5.4% vs. 0%)
