What i think is missing from the argument of recycling, is that even if the older vehicles batteries are recycled to build batteries for new cars, what about the old cars? Are we suggesting there will be no market for 2nd hand cars in the future and the lifecycle of a car is limited to 5 years before its scrapped; more likely they will replace the battery. Therefore in my opinion you will need new batteries for 2nd hand vehicles as well as new vehicles and it its doubtful the recycling of batteries will be self sufficient until well into the future.
