    I

I will admit that the relation between Lynas Management and Japan is great. But one thing most westerners do not understand is the loyalty to the corporation of the Japanese business people. A person who would do anything to protect you on the street will easily work you over for the good of the corporation. This totally confused me when I started working in Japan in spite of many people telling me this would happen. So what is important to the corporations in Japan. A growing, reliable supply of high Quality REO at a price that Keeps Japan very competitive with China.

Now think which company has the best chance of doing this. Wes with billions of free cash and much broader operations than Lynas. or Lynas that is still surviving on the edge and who will need major cash infusions to expand and possibly move C&L. I get why many on this board see WES as an enemy but if you’re going to talk about Japan Rescuing Lynas you have to look at it from Japans view. Which company has the resources to grow REO production faster with their own cash. Which company may have a better relation with Malaysia? ( not so sure this will stay true)

Last point is that much of Lynas’s problems started long before Lynas with the Mitsubishi REO facilities. For Lynas to appear to be closer tied to Japan would add fuel to the arguments of the Stop Lynas people. How bad is hard to know but I am sure Japan is very aware of this and wants to keep ties to Malaysian Lynas at a minimum.

For me Japan jumping into this makes zero sense. I sincerely hope WES fails if they succeed I lose a great opportunity to make money that I have lots of time invested in. Japan’s goals have nothing to do with the success or failure of Lynas just the success of the Mt weld reo supply. From that view WES look like the better answer. I think Japan inc. knows the best course for them is stay totally neutral and just support whoever wins. It has been 4 weeks since the WES offer has been made the total lack of anything out of Japan says it all.
